ROMAN MEATBALLS SUB

A hearty, comforting sub loaded with tender Chicken Roman Meatballs, rich tomato sauce, and gooey melted mozzarella, all tucked into a soft sub roll.

Ingredients
  

  • 18 Theo's Roman chicken meatballs
  • 6 soft sub rolls
  • 500 ml tomato passata or tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or Italian herbs
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese, grated

Instructions
 

  • Cook the chicken meatballs in the oven at 180°C for 20 minutes or until is cooked through.
  • In a saucepan, cook the passata, herbs, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes until thickened slightly. Stir in the cooked meatballs and coat well.
  • Slice each sub roll lengthways (without cutting all the way through). Fill with 3 meatballs and a generous spoonful of sauce.
  • Top with mozzarella and place under a hot grill or in a preheated oven at 180°C for 2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
